Pair it with rider hazard reports to know exactly what's ahead on your route.

How does a lunch break work on a mixed group ride?

Yes. Tap any rider and hit Follow: PEV Radar draws a road-following route to them and re-routes automatically as they move — throttled to spare the routing API. If they're following you back, both maps show a pulsing Rendezvous marker at the natural meet-up point between you.

What is Lead-the-Pack and how does the app stop riders getting dropped?

Lead-the-Pack is PEV Radar's automatic ride marshal. It watches every rider's live position, speed and battery over the same telemetry the map already broadcasts, then alerts the pack the moment the slowest rider falls more than 400m behind - naming the dropped rider and how far back they are, usually the Onewheel at 15mph while the EUCs run 30. A group pace lock syncs a cruise speed across the group so riders rolling well under it get a quiet nudge, and a board dropping to about 20% battery raises a low-board alert that points the pack at the charge spots already on the map. No new hardware: it is pure logic on top of the live group map.

Can I earn rewards for sharing PEV Radar with other riders?

Yes. Sharing the app earns DALEs, PEV Radar's in-app currency, and the leaderboard ranks riders by how many DALEs they have accumulated. DALEs are redeemable for features.

Does PEV Radar do turn-by-turn navigation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Start navigating any route from Route Creator, tap Follow on another rider, or launch a Sweep Search and your approach line becomes a navigated route. A glanceable banner shows the coming turn with a big arrow, the distance counting down, the instruction itself (for example, turn right onto Fell Street), a preview of the turn after that, and the distance and ETA left on the ride. The corner is pinned on the map, your own dot shows which way you are facing, and spoken prompts call the turn out roughly 400 m, 120 m and 30 m before it - mute them with one tap. Wandering more than about 35 m off the line turns the banner amber so you know to come back.

What is Sweep Search mode and when would a group use it?

Sweep Search is an ad-hoc search mode any rider can launch mid-ride. You drop a goal on the map, and PEV Radar fans the pack out so every rider - or every squad already riding together - approaches that goal from a different street instead of everyone riding the same road twice, which is what makes it work for finding a dropped rider, a lost item, or an area you want covered. Optional black routes keep each rider's own line private so nobody gets sent back down ground that has already been swept. The sweep is live for everyone until someone ends it.

Does PEV Radar notify me when the app is closed?

Yes. Background push notifications reach your phone even when PEV Radar is closed or in your pocket: a Rider Down SOS from anyone within about 50km of you (plus your group mates), sweep searches you have been assigned an entry point for, and Lead-the-Pack pack alerts about stragglers, low board battery or riders dropping off the map. Turn them on from the Ride button on the map, under Background alerts. Pack alerts are computed on every device, so the server deduplicates them inside a 90-second window — one notification, not one per phone.

Can someone who isn't on the app follow my ride live?

Yes, with a Watch Ride link. From the Ride button on the map, tap Share this ride and choose Just me or Me + my pack, then text the link to whoever you want. They open it in any browser — no account, no app — and see your dot on a live map with your pace, board battery, how long you have been riding and when the ride ends. It is opt-in per ride, pack sharing is a separate opt-in that only includes riders already broadcasting an exact location, links expire after 12 hours, and the rider can end one instantly.

How do I get my whole crew onto PEV Radar quickly?

Show them a QR code. From the Ride button, open Share this ride, tap Create QR and the rider next to you scans it — or you text them the six-character code or /join link. They sign in with an email code (no password, no app store), land straight in your group on the live map, and from then on they show up on group rides automatically. Pack calls (Hold up, Need a hand, Charging here, Rolling again) and the Rider Down SOS beacon only work when the whole crew is in, which is exactly what the invite flow is for.

Can I replay a ride and export it to Strava?

Yes. PEV Radar records your ride — manually from the Ride button, or automatically once you have covered about 300m with other riders online — and turns it into a replay: the route drawn as a heat trail by speed, played back street by street with a live marker, elapsed time, distance travelled, current speed and board battery. Download any ride as a GPX file for Strava, Garmin, RideWithGPS or Google Earth, or share an unguessable replay link that anyone can watch without an account at pevradar.com/replay.
